RECARO sets standards – and has been doing so for more than 50 years. Our roots go back to the “Stuttgarter Carosserie- u. Radfabrik” body plant, founded in 1906 by master saddler Wilhelm Reutter. The company developed and produced car bodies and interior fittings for all well-known manufacturers. The step towards specializing in seating was therefore a logical one. In 1963, REutter CAROsserie became the seat specialist RECARO. 1965 saw the development of the RECARO Sport Seat, the origin of sports seating. Just two years after the launch of the first RECARO sports seat, the RECARO rallye continued the revolution in automotive seating by becoming the first road-legal shell seat.
